If you’re a fan of Mario Kart and looking for a fresh twist on the iconic racing game, look no further than Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. This mixed-reality game brings the thrill of kart racing into your own home with RC karts and augmented reality. In my latest video, I decided to take things up a notch by showcasing all tracks in the game, created in both my living room and backyard. By setting up gates and placing them around your home, you can design your own track, bringing the classic Mario Kart elements like power-ups, obstacles, and themed environments into your very own home. The game overlays digital effects on top of the real-world footage captured by the kart’s camera, creating a truly immersive racing experience.
🏠 Setting the Stage: Living Room & Backyard Tracks
For my video, I took full advantage of the versatility of the game by showcasing tracks across two distinct settings – my living room and backyard. The living room allowed for tight, competitive racing with sharp turns and narrow paths, while the backyard offered an expansive open space with more room for speed and longer straights.
🏡 Backyard Tracks: Outdoor Adventure
In the backyard, I designed some wide, open tracks with natural obstacles like garden furniture, plants, and even a few ramps for some added air-time. The fresh outdoor setting made for some interesting AR visuals, where the digital obstacles seemed to merge seamlessly with real-world elements like grass and trees. Racing through the backyard added an extra layer of excitement as I zoomed past outdoor decorations and used natural spaces as part of my course design.
🛋️ Living Room Tracks: Tight Turns and Power-Ups
Inside, the living room offered a much different challenge. I used the limited space to create a more technical track with tighter corners, making use of furniture, walls, and even have my 2 cats roaming around the tracks. The confined space was perfect for high-speed action mixed with moments of skillful maneuvering around obstacles, all while battling through item boxes for that Mario Kart edge.
