Who Can Survive the Lava Pool in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has no shortage of creative stage ideas—but this one brings the heat. Literally. In this custom challenge, I built a deadly lava floor with two safe platforms on each side. The goal? See which fighters can make it across without touching the lava at all.

Two platforms, one on the far left, the other on the far right. In between? Nothing but a pool of fiery lava waiting to roast anyone who slips up. Each fighter starts on the left platform and must use their movement, recovery, or special abilities to make it to the other side without falling in.

This isn’t just a test of jumps. It’s a full-on survival and mobility challenge that pushes each fighter’s recovery skills, aerial control, and even speed to the limit.

What Makes It Fun

Every character feels like a new puzzle. Can Little Mac, with his weak recovery, make it across? Will teleporters like Zelda or Mewtwo cheese the challenge? And which characters can barely scrape by with a perfectly timed move?

Some fighters soared across with ease. Others barely missed the edge. And yes—some fell straight into the lava pit with no hope.

This kind of challenge highlights just how different every fighter is when you strip away the typical battlefield rules. It’s not about who can KO—it’s about who has the right tools to survive and maneuver under pressure. Watching characters struggle (or succeed) in creative obstacles is what makes Smash custom content so much fun.
